Today, Day Five

The quarter-finalists in the bottom half of the draws were decided today as Round Three concluded with the final two matches at the Shooting Club and six more at the Pyramids.

The morning men’s matches both went the full five games as Baptiste Masotti overcame young Malaysian Eain Yow Ng and Marwan ElShorbagy stopped a comeback from Mostafa Asal in its tracks.  The evening matches saw Karim Abdel Gawad beat Leo Au in four games and Wales’ Joel Makin take three close games against Victor Crouin.

The women’s matches again went with seeding, but Hania El Hammamy was taken to the wire by Sivasangari Subramanian and Joelle King had to come from a game down agaisnt Annie Au. Defending champion Nour El Sherbini and France’s third seed Camille Serme finished the round off with emphatic wins.
